Panels

Panels

Here a PAWCon 2017, we intend to bring the best and brightest panels to our attendees, but we can’t do it without you. None of our panels are paid for, and we don’t hire professional exhibitors to design and run blockbuster panels. When we say words like “we” or “our,” we are including you in the process since this is everyone’s convention. To that end, we welcome those whom intend to attend the convention to run panels.

Our Venue

We currently have one room dedicated to events such as panels, and three days brimming with opportunities for anyone wanting to use the space for events that are open to attendees.

Rules

The simple reality with any private or public event is that there must be rules. If we allowed any panel to be performed at the convention without a set of guidelines and rules, we could easily suffer some unexpected consequences.

We want to protect our hotel, ourselves, and most importantly, you. To that end, there are some basic rules that must be observed by panelists while running their panels. These rules will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Time frames

This year, we are intending to split our schedules into 1-hour, 1.5-hour, and 2-hour blocks. Panels are encouraged to fill their time-slot, but they are not required to do so. Panels that are projected to be shorter than 30 minutes are allowed, but we will attempt to fill the time slots as much as possible; therefore, if you are running a 25-minute panel, we will ask that you vacate the room if another panel is going to be in that room afterwards.

Panel Slots

Morning Afternoon Evening Night (Adult)
10a.m. – 12p.m. 12p.m. – 5p.m. 5p.m. – 10p.m. 10p.m. – 2a.m.
2 panel slots! 5 panel slots! 5 panel slots! 4 panel slots!

Morning, Afternoon, and Evening panels are encouraged to focus on content that is not explicitly adult in nature while the Night panels are allowed to be explicitly adult in nature so long as no laws are violated in the process.

Amenities

Our Panel Room will sport tables for the panelists and chairs for both attendees and panelists. In addition to this, we will be providing a water cooler with disposable cups and a trash bin. If your panel requires amenities beyond this, please inform us when you submit your panel for approval.

Panel Submission

We are currently accepting panel submissions, and we want to hear from you. Please go HERE to submit your panel to the PAWCon board for review. Please notate whether you want to run the panel in the morning (10a.m.–12p.m.), afternoon (12p.m.–5p.m.), evening (5p.m.–9p.m.), or night (9p.m.–2a.m.). While we can not guarantee you a specific hour or set of hours until the schedule is finalized, we can more readily offer choices to those whom submit panels early. Remember that our panels occupy 1-hour slots.

Questions and/or Concerns

Please send an email to panels@pacanthro.org if you have any questions or concerns for us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
